Join the Team

Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket is the only organization on the Grey Lady that is federally permitted to respond to live, injured, or dead marine mammals.

Our team of dedicated volunteers support the organization’s mission to protect and conserve Nantucket’s marine mammals in a number of ways.  Yet seals, dolphins, whales, and turtles are not the only animals needing assistance.

More and varied animals in distress calls have come into our hotline as our presence has become widely recognized as the "go-to" organization for help. Whenever possible, we respond to any animal in need for relocation, transport to Offshore Animal Hospital or off island rehab. We've also found a growing desire for more education within the community, which we are more than happy to provide. So, we need YOU to join the team and pitch in wherever your skills and passions lead.

PROCEDURE SESSIONS COMING SOON

If you have taken our recruitment information class, and are interested in getting trained to volunteer, please register here. Attendees will learn all about marine mammal response, from managing the hotline, responding to animals on the beach and assessing to disentangling animals caught in marine debris or refloating stranded dolphins.

RECRUITMENT SESSIONS OPEN

Have you ever wanted to be involved in marine mammal rescue? Do you like to walk the beach, help animals, understand more about the critters we share the shore with? MMAN team members work together to protect seal pups, disentangle animals caught in marine debris, and provide valuable data to NOAA and other researchers. All are welcome to attend one of these recruitment sessions to learn more.  SIGN UP BELOW.

Be a MMAN Ambassador

Help us get the word out about what we do and how important our work is. Bring up MMAN in conversation and praise our work. The more people understand the importance of our efforts the better chance we have of securing funding for our survival. Hearing it from someone they know and trust goes a long way. Carry MMAN cards with you and hand them out on the beach so people have our hotline. Advocate for MMAN and our mission.
